Welcome to Odessa, TX!
Located 20 mi (32 km) southeast of Midland, Odessa is a ranching and oil and gas town. The twin towns of Midland and Odessa maintain similar cultures and handmade art traditions and share many special events and festivals, such as the Cinco de Mayo Celebration, the Permian Basin Fair and Exposition and the Merry Market Place. The west Texas ranching heritage of Odessa can best be explored through the Ellen Noel Art Museum, the Parker House Museum and the Presidential Museum. Visitors looking for shaded picnic areas and recreational spaces are attracted to Odessa's numerous natural parks and gardens, such as Salinas Park, Sherwood Park, Slator Park and Woodson Park. Visitors have the chance to sample a range of cuisine, from Texas barbeque to Mexican to Italian. Music, dance, drama and comedy are featured at the Permian Playhouse, a community theater dating back over 40 years.
